DIANE GILBERT | ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH
Diane (Hawkins) Gilbert is in her eighth season as the top assistant coach for the UWSP women’s basketball team. Gilbert also serves as the program’s recruiting coordinator.
Gilbert was a four-year letter winner for the Pointers from 2001-05 and was a member of the 2002 National Championship team, which was inducted into the Pointer Hall of Fame in 2008.
Coach Gilbert joined the Pointers’ staff after spending two seasons as the Graduate Assistant Coach at Edgewood College in Madison. While at Edgewood, Gilbert worked primarily with guard development and served as recruiting coordinator for the Eagles. In her two seasons with the Eagles, the team finished 36-18 overall, 27-8 in the Northern Athletics Conference, and advanced to the league’s championship game in 2008.
Prior to coaching at Edgewood, Gilbert served as a Student Assistant with the Pointers during the 2005-06 season. After graduating from UWSP, Gilbert served as the Director of New Program Development at the Green County Family YMCA in Monroe, Wis.
Gilbert received a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and Wellness with a minor in Coaching in 2006 from UW-Stevens Point. As a student, she was a 2004 recipient of the University Leadership Award, a 2005 recipient of the Pointer Leadership Award for women’s basketball, and the 2006 UWSP Chancellor Senior Leadership Award.
Gilbert received her master’s degree in Education from Edgewood in May of 2009. Gilbert currently teaches at UWSP in the school of Health, Exercise Science and Athletics.
Gilbert, a native of Monroe, Wis., was a two-time All-Badger Conference selection for Monroe High School and a member of back-to-back Badger Conference Championship teams.
Gilbert and her husband, Grayson, reside in Plover with daughter, Natalie, and son, Griffin.
